Algorand confirms post-quantum cryptography live on MainNet ahead of Q-Day
Covered by 3 sources
Algorand's post-quantum cryptography is live on MainNet as part of the protocol. The network has been building toward quantum resilience since 2022. Q-Day is the milestone for the transition to full post-quantum cryptography.
Community member @virtualbacon identified Algorand as one of the few chains with post-quantum cryptography already enabled on mainnet, a point the community repeated across posts on October 16 and 19.

Algorand releases AC2, an open standard that gives AI agent approvals a cryptographic signature
The Algorand Foundation has released AC2, an open-standard protocol for agentic commerce on Algorand. AC2 uses hardware-bound passkey approvals and cryptographic signatures to provide a verifiable audit trail for every transaction executed by an AI agent, replacing session-level tokens that are easy to phish. The protocol covers a three-step flow: a request from the agent, a single-flow payment, and on-chain settlement of the delivery proof. A companion wallet app is available for iOS and Android.

Algorand reaches quantum-resilient status with Falcon-secured State Proofs and over 1.5 million post-quantum transactions on mainnet
The Algorand team reports that the network has achieved quantum-resilient status through Falcon-secured State Proofs, making it the first major Layer 1 to protect its chain history against quantum attacks. Work on this capability has been in progress since 2022.
