Algorand deploys v3.8.1 to fix TestNet stall caused by cache optimization bug
Algorand deployed version 3.8.1 to both MainNet and TestNet on July 8, 2022. The release fixes a bug in a cache optimization thread that had caused the TestNet to stall, and disables the resource prefetch optimization responsible for it. No protocol-level upgrades were included.
The post mortem for the TestNet stall describes the bug as causing voters to incorrectly identify valid transactions as invalid, which stopped block production. Patch v3.8.1 was made available for MainNet nodes as well to ensure consistency across both networks.
