GP8 draft governance measures propose 40M ALGO rewards, DeFi increase to 27.5M, and consensus pilot, then pause without proceeding

Draft measures for Governance Period 8 proposed an allocation of 40M ALGO for governance rewards, an increase to the DeFi rewards allocation from 25M to 27.5M ALGO, a consensus rewards pilot program via targeted DeFi protocols, xGov pilot funding, and updated terms for the NFT rewards program. An August 28 update confirmed the community will not proceed with these measures this quarter.

The DeFi rewards adjustment and the consensus participation pilot were among three measures the community drafted for September voting. The second source groups the governance rewards figure of 40M ALGO with the xGov pilot funding and NFT program updates as part of the same draft.
